Meet Aidee; a beautiful Lady who has lived and breathed the low carb life for over 2 yrs now. She has worked hard and is now reaping the benefits of the Ketogenic lifestyle. Today she has graciously shared her story with us. Read on and be inspired.

Tell us your amazing story:
AIDEE: I have been overweight all my life ! But I decided to take charge of my weight gain back in 2003/2004 with exercise and running specifically. I was running a minimum of 5k a day 6 days a week. I achieved a lot of success but was unable to keep it off. So I was going through the motion of weight loss and weight gain.
Why did you choose the Keto Way of Eating ( WOE )?
AIDEE: In February of 2016 I had a severe lower back pain and was scheduled for a surgery later that year – my doctor asked me to stop running as I was putting a lot of pressure on my spine. So I stopped running and resorted to walking and in less than 1 month, all the hard work I was putting into exercise became a “waste”! I gained back all the weight I managed to cut down. In April of 2016, A friend added me to a keto group on Facebook and this triggered off my curiosity, I did a lot of research into it; read a lot on the keto way of eating ; studied it and decided I was going to try it!
We all know how challenging a keto diet can be. Can you tell us how you survived the first two weeks on this WOE.
AIDEE: I think sticking to Keto requires; making up your mind to stick to it and understanding how keto works!
How has keto changed your life?
AIDEE: In so many ways! Apart from weight loss I have seen a lot if improvement in my overall health. My lower back pain flare up has reduced, My surgery was cancelled as my dr did not think I need it again. My severe Acid reflux has been reduced/almost existent
Do you count your macros strictly?
Do you exercise? If yes, how has it impacted your success?
AIDEE: I walk for at least 1 hour a day – weight loss I believe is dependent mostly on food exercise just compliments it.
Did you encounter a plateau at any point in your journey? How did you tackle it?
AIDEE: Yes – I have in the past and currently experiencing it; I don’t let that deter me, I just keep doing the right things and when the scale decides to move it will :-). I try to focus on my dress size and fitting( I believe this is still the best way to determine if you are losing or gaining weight.
How long did it take you to get visible results?
AIDEE: I would say 3 months
What was your motivation to stay on track and not give up?
AIDEE: When I started fitting into smaller dress sizes 🙂
Did you follow a meal plan strictly or Did you go freestyle?
AIDEE: I started off following a meal plan strictly, by my second week, I was going free styled. This to me is easier than following meal plan; but then you have to know what you are doing to go free style.
What are your top 3 meals on Keto?
AIDEE: bacon, bacon, bacon
What do you think contributed to your success in this WOE?
AIDEE: My desire to succeed! I said to myself, I am going to start something and commit to it!

Are you on the maintenance or weight loss mode?
AIDEE: Maintenance mode
How long did it take you to get to your target weight?
AIDEE: It took me about 1 year + 5 months to get here. I am doing the same things but just not fasting for longer periods as I was during my weight loss phase.
What words of wisdom would you give newbies to this way of life (WOL) to keep them motivated.
AIDEE: Make up your mind – read and research a lot into keto way of eating (very important) stay focused, Be strategic with it plan to succeed, and remember, this is a way of life!
