How to make Greek yoghurt
All you need to make Greek yoghurt is milk and a good quality yoghurt that had live bacteria in it. Or you can buy a culture starter.
You need to warm up the milk then let it cool to the warmth of baby milk then add you yoghurt starter or culture starter. Let the live bacteria do the magic of yoghurt making for 8 to 12 hrs or overnight.
Tips to getting a thicker yoghurt
The type of milk used matter. Powdered milk always makes a thicker yoghurt.
If your yoghurt is not thick enough then strain it with a nut bag or cheese cloth the get the liquid whey out.
What type of milk can you use to make yoghurt?
•'Powdered milk*
•'Fresh milk full fat or low fat: full fat makes a creamier yoghurt.
• For dairy free option, coconut milk and almond milk.
*I prefer using powdered milk because it makes a thicker yoghurt.
Why is Greek yoghurt considered low carb/ keto friendly.
The bacteria that cultures the milk to form yoghurt feeds on lactose. Lactose is the naturally occurring sugar in milk. Lactose is almost completely eaten up by the bacteria making plain yoghurt keto friendly.

Home made Greek yoghurt
Greek yoghurt is a low carb staple and it's so easy to make. Try my creamy delicious and thick Greek yoghurt recipe and you are not going back
• 1 cup whole milk powder
• 2 cups of hot water
• ½ cup of previously homemade yoghurt or store bought yoghurt with live cultures
• Mix powdered milk with boiling water.
• Allow to cool to about 110 degrees F or the warmth of a babies bottle.
• Scoop out some and mix it with the starter yoghurt then pour it back into the other milk.
• Cover milk and yoghurt mixture and put in a warm place for 8 to 12 hours. ( I usually leave it in the oven with the oven light bulb on)
After 12 hrs, refrigerate.
Enjoy.
I'm sure homemade has a much better flavor than store bought. So smart to make your own!
This sounds amazing! I can't wait to this!
You should, you will love it
I've never made yoghurt before but your easy to follow directions make it seem super easy. I like that I can adjust this recipe to what kind of milk I already have or a different milk that I might want to try.
Yes it’s super easy. Since I started making mine, I rarely buy in-store ?
I have never made homemade yogurt before, but I absolutely loved this recipe!
Thanks Tayler ?
I had no idea making homemade yogurt is so easy 🙂 Question - can I omit the powdered milk?
It’s easy peasy. Yes you can omit the powdered milk and use regular liquid milk. But the yoghurt won’t be as thick as the one made with powdered milk or a mix of both. Thanks Julia ?
