How to make Sugar free Hot Cocoa Mix.
Sugar free Hot Cocoa Mix requires just three ingredients and an occasional fourth which I usually don't add. These ingredients are Cocoa Powder ( I love the Terrassoul and the Hershey's brand), Powdered sweetener (I use Monk fruit blend or Xylitol) and some salt. The occasional fourth ingredient is heavy cream powder or either coconut cream powder or coconut milk powder if dairy free.
Please don't skip the salt. You would love the flavor it adds to this sugar free hot chocolate mix.
The net carbs for this sugar free hot cocoa mix without the heavy cream powder is less than 1g per 2 Tbsp. I don't count the erythritol because it's a sugar alcohol and doesn't cause a spike in blood sugar levels for most people. If

Is the carb count shown here for the recipe if you use the heavy whipping cream powder or if you use coconut milk powder
Hi Eva,
The carb count doesn’t include heavy cream powder or coconut milk powder as it’s optional and you can make the hot cocoa mix without either. You can also choose to add either when mixing with hot water.
However I calculated those for you below. Will add it to the post later. Hope you find it helpful

How much mix do you use per cup? I don't see that part.
Hi Pam,
It’s 2 Tbsp per cup of water or milk if choice.

I haven't tried it yet but thank you for doing the hard work of figuring it out!
You are welcome Maggie. Thank you for stopping by. 😊
I just made this up! But I would like a more cocoa taste, can I increase the amount of cocoa. I also use the Terrassoul cacao!
Hi Sarah,
Yes you can increase the amount of cocoa and reduce the heavy cream powder if you used heavy cream.
Alternatively leave the heavy cream powder out completely and add to your taste when making the drink. If you do leave the heavy cream powder out you might not need to increase the cocoa. Hope that helps. Thank you for stopping by. Enjoy! 😀
..and feel free to reach out if you have more questions. I am always happy to help
This looks delicious!
I’m going to try making mine with Coffee Mate sugar free chocolate creamer! Bet that will make it even chocolatier (🤣 is that even a word?)
Hi Rene!
Sounds interesting. How did it go. Lo d that chocolatier is a word, but we should add our own meaning to the original meaning 😊
I didn’t add any kind of dairy or dairy free powder and made it exactly as you said with half the amount of monk fruit…my husband says it just tastes very bland to him. This is for him and I want him to like it so he’ll quit with the store bought sugary stuff. Do I add more mix than suggested or do I need to up an ingredient? Any help would be awesome. Thank you for doing this!!!
Hi Holly,
I think you should increase the monkfruit to ¾ cup and for him, you might need to include the heavy cream powder. These changes will make it more interesting for him. Hope this helps.
