Usually Sugar free Popsicles are made with fruits which have loads of natural sugars depending on the type of fruit in question. and these natural sugars can build up your daily carb load and kicking you out of ketosis.
Because of the high natural sugar content in fruits, some fruits do not fall into the carb limit of a strict low carb diet and that's where this sugar free Popsicles comes in. With just one ingredient and absolutely no carbs you can totally indulge. Just kidding. Artificial sweeteners may cause cravings for some people so indulge responsibly.
This is for people who really find it difficult to cut out sweets. Especially in the beginning. It's an avenue to enjoy a sweet treats without getting out of ketosis. A way to help you stay on track without feeling trapped or too restricted.

What is the one ingredient in this sugar free Popsicles?
Any sugar free drink of your choice will work. You can use
- Fanta Zero
- Zevia zero calorie soda
- Various flavors of Sparkling ice ( that's what I used)
Guess what you can have even more fun with these sugar free Popsicles by making them two tone. Summer fun all the way.
This popsicle maker will be very helpful in this project. If you already have a popsicle maker and you have run out of popsicle sticks you can get these ones.
Pro tip
1. Fill the popsicle Maker ¾ full to allow space for expansion of the liquid as it freezes
2. Soda is bubbly because of the carbon dioxide in frizzy drinks. To prevent your Popsicles from having lots of empty space in it when frozen, Open the soda allow some time for gas to escape before filling the popsicle holders or pour immediately into the Popsicle holders and let popsicle holder sit on the counter a bit to expel some gas before freezing.
Update:
3. The popsicle sticks may sink or float because of the gas in in the drink. Below are two ways I have found helpful.
• Fill the popsicle Maker ⅓ way up with your drink of choice then freeze . When completely frozen, fill up the cavities with the the sugar free drink, cover with the lid then insert the popsicle sticks. The frozen bottom will prevent the sticks from sinking further.
• Alternatively, fill up the cavities then pop into the freezer for about 30 mins. Tie up the Popsicle sticks near the tip with tiny rubber bands, Cover the popsicle Maker with the lid then insert the sticks. The rubber band will prevent the sticks from sinking. Remove the bands when the Popsicles are frozen. See illustration below
These Sugar free Popsicles can take up to 3 hrs to freeze but it's best to freeze them overnight and enjoy the next day. How do you quench your thirst in the summer months I would love to know.
